Dre’Mont Jones is coming into his new situation with a massive chip on his shoulder.
After spending the first four seasons of his career with the Denver Broncos, defensive end Dre’Mont Jones and the team went their separate ways during the offseason. Now, he will be playing football for the Seattle Seahawks on a three-year deal worth up to $51.53 million.
While speaking with reporters on Monday, the defensive lineman said he heard the Seahawks wanted him as part of the trade package that sent quarterback Russell Wilson from Seattle to Denver, and that the Broncos should’ve traded him.
“I mean, s–t, they should have just traded me from the jump,” Jones told reporters. ” I was included in the trade. Denver said no . . . Denver didn’t pay me my proper respects, so I’m here because they respected me from the jump.”
The Broncos sent draft picks, quarterback Drew Lock, tight end Noah Fant, and defensive lineman Shelby Harris to the Seahawks for Wilson.
Jones had 133 tackles, 22 sacks, two forced fumbles, one football recovery, and one interception during his four seasons in the Mile High City.

Now that Sean Payton is in tow, the Broncos are hoping things can turn around. However, Jones will not be part of that effort as he will be a key part of a defense that the Seahawks hope can help them back to the playoffs in 2023.
The Seahawks surprised everybody in 2022 by playing well with Geno Smith at quarterback and qualifying for the postseason. The team is hoping to recreate the same magic, but make a little bit more noise once they get into the postseason.
