With the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine set to begin this week in Indianapolis, young football players from across the country with hopes of being drafted to the NFL will be put to the test in a variety of exercises to see if they have what it takes to make it in the best football league in the world.
One of the most obvious tests for a quarterback is how strong is his arm strength in terms of velocity and how far he can throw his deep pass. Former North Carolina quarterback and top prospect Drake Maye has appeared to pass that test with flying colors as a video recently went viral showing Maye launching a pass of 80+ air yards.
This year’s draft is expected to have three quarterbacks selected in the top five with Maye along with Caleb Williams of USC and Jayden Daniels of LSU all being projected as top five picks in nearly every mock draft. Although arm strength is only one of several attributes teams look for in a franchise quarterback, there is no doubt that this video has helped Maye’s stock rise.
Many football fans were in disbelief after viewing the video and many of them took to social media to post their reactions on Maye’s crazy arm strength:

Maye had a very solid 2023 season for the Tar Heels starting 12 games while throwing for 3,608 yards and 24 passing touchdowns. He added an additional 449 yards rushing and an impressive nine rushing scores.
The Washington Commanders, New England Patriots and New York Giants who all have top-six draft picks are reported to be interested in acquiring the services of Maye. It will be very interesting to see where he ends up and we will find that out after night one of the NFL Draft which is set for Thursday April 25th in Detroit, Michigan.
