It’s extremely rare in the professional sports world for an athlete to be on the same team with their own parent serving as the head coach or GM. But such is the case with Josh Pederson, the son of Jacksonville Jaguars’ head coach Doug Pederson.
Following a brief stint with the Houston Gamblers of the USFL, the younger Pederson signed with the Jaguars and reunited with his father. But Josh had a brutal blunder in the Jaguars-Cowboys preseason game on Saturday which may or may not culminate in his own dad cutting him.
Tight end is Josh’s natural position, but he played long snapper during Saturday’s contest. Unfortunately, the decision to assign Josh the long snapper position led to this bad snap that may end up costing him his job:
The 6-foot-5 Pederson was previously on the rosters of the San Francisco 49ers, Kansas City Chiefs and New Orleans Saints, but he never appeared in a game for either club.
Jacksonville will open their 2023 regular season with a road contest against the AFC South rival Indianapolis Colts on Sept. 10.
