Last month, Buffalo Bills fans reached deep inside their pockets to show support for quarterback Josh Allen after his grandmother’s passing. It has only gotten better since then.
On Monday, Oishei Children’s Hospital announced that a generous $217,000 donations from lifelong Bills fan Sue McCollum pushed the total of donations past the $1 million mark.
“I am grateful to be able to make this gift in honor of my late parents, Frederick D. and Joan R. McCollum. My parents loved their family, their hometown and we grew up knowing Sundays were made for Buffalo Bills football!” McCollum said the Oishei announcement statement. “They’d be proud to know they are joining the Bills Mafia in honoring Josh Allen’s own grandmother and in doing great things for the kids in Buffalo.”
Patricia Allen passed away the day before the Bills played the Seattle Seahawks, with Allen playing in that game and leading the team to a statement victory. Bills fans rallied on social media to start making donations in Patricia Allen’s honor to Oishei because Allen has been so passionate about his work with the hospital in his three years in Buffalo.
“I know my family is forever engraved here and myself included. I don’t ever want to leave obviously,” Allen said. “I want to play here as for as long as I can and give back to the community and give back to Bills Mafia here.”
