The New England Patriots have gotten off to a torrid start in 2023, and even Donald Trump is trolling them despite having some serious worries on his plate.
The former United States President has a lot going on in his life at the moment. But, having given a speech in New Hampshire this week, he still found some time to take a sly dig at the Pats.
Trump was speaking about current President Joe Biden and his negotiations with China when he began roasting the 1-4 Patriots, though he backed Bill Belichick to figure things out.
“For him to negotiate with President Xi of China is like my high school football team playing… Let’s see, what’s a good football team nowadays? Philadelphia’s good. You know they change a little bit,” Trump remarked. “I used to say New England. I used to say the Patriots.
“I’d love to be able to say the Patriots. He [Bill Belichick] is a great guy, great coach, but they’re having a little hard time. What’s going on with the Patriots? But he’s a great coach. He’ll figure it out somehow.”
New England is coming off a blowout loss to the New Orleans Saints, who beat them 34-0 on Sunday. They’ve also been outscored 72-3 over the span of their last two outings and things are not looking good for Belichick, who is becoming the subject of discussions pertaining to him possibly losing his job.
Belichick and the Pats will hope to make their upcoming fixture against the Las Vegas Raiders a turning point, with the Raiders coming off a 17-13 win over the Green Bay Packers on Monday night.
