Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel confirmed to reporters on Monday that quarterback Tua Tagovailoa has been placed in the concussion protocol. It was not immediately clear when it happened during the game against the Packers, but it might explain his poor play.
On Wednesday, it was confirmed Tagovailoa did suffer a concussion and the team will likely start Teddy Bridgewater against the Patriots, per Adam Schefter.
On a play late in the first half, the quarterback appeared to hit the back of his head on the turf after making a throw. He would stay in the game and finish the contest completing 16 of 25 passes for 310 yards and a touchdown, along with three interceptions.

This is not the first time Tagovailoa has been placed in the league’s concussion protocol this season. The quarterback appeared to hit his head, and suffer a head injury, in Week 3 against the Buffalo Bills. However, he would return and finish out that game.
Days later, he would be knocked unconscious and taken to a nearby hospital for observation. He would be placed in the protocol and missed games against the Jets and the Minnesota Vikings.
The Dolphins should do the right thing and shut him down for the year.
