The Miami Dolphins are reported to have an interest in trading for Pro Bowl running back Dalvin Cook and are monitoring the situation with the Minnesota Vikings.
Cook’s name has come up in trade talks so he’s thought to be a subject of interest around the NFL. However, according to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald, the Vikings are now expected to keep the 27-year-old on their roster.
Jackson has been on point in recent times and is thought to be the most reliable beat writer covering the Dolphins, so it’s likely that Minnesota is indeed looking to keep Cook. It would make sense for them too, as they will be without Adam Thielen and need offensive playmakers around, though they are looking to make plenty of moves in the offseason.
Per Jackson, Cook is set to make just $10.4 million in 2023 and has three years left on his deal.
It’s also likely that he has been shopped around. Recent reports noted that the player was discussed with an AFC East team but nothing has materialized since.
If the Dolphins were the team in question, it would probably be safe to assume that the asking price was one they were not willing to meet. Chris Grier, the Miami GM, is known for being quite intransigent when it comes to the maximums he sets for trades and will walk away from deals that require him to surpass them.

Cook is staying put for now but there’s also the fact that we’re still in the tampering period, with free agency set to officially kick off at 4:00 PM ET this Wednesday.
