The road was not easy for Miami Dolphins rookie QB Tua Tagovailoa. The former Alabama Crimson Tide star QB was highly touted as being a top pick, but things seemed to change after his hip injury in what would be his final game.
Tagovailoa, the No. 5 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, signed a deal with more $30 million that included a signing bonus of $19.6 million. In an interview with GQ, Tagovailoa reveled how he spent his first million dollars.
“I bought a car from my mom,” Tagovailoa said. “It was a 2020 Escalade. I actually trusted my marketing guys to help me with that, and so literally on Mother’s Day, I ended up calling my marketing team and asked them if they could help me get a car, and my mom was very happy.”
In addition to the $80,000 vehicle purchase, the rookie bought two cars for himself for a total of about $60,000. Tagovailoa also purchased a few jewelry items for himself and a $10,000 watch for his father.
Of course, he bought a huge house.
Through three games, the Dolphins have not yet sent Tagovailoa to the field.
