Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel provided an encouraging update on the status of superstar wideout Tyreek Hill for Sunday’s pivotal Week 16 showdown with the Dallas Cowboys.
Per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, McDaniel informed that Hill didn’t experience any setbacks with his ankle injury. The second-year head coach is also confident that the 29-year-old will suit up against Dallas.
Star rookie wideout De’Von Achane (toe injury) is also expected to play, McDaniel added. Achane had nine carries for 32 yards and 30 receiving yards in last Sunday’s 30-0 win over the New York Jets.
Hill injured his ankle in the Dolphins’ Week 14 home game against the Tennessee Titans on “Monday Night Football”. The injury looked serious for a few moments, but Hill quickly got back up and managed to return to the game later on.
Hill missed Sunday’s blowout win over the Jets, but he still leads the NFL in both receiving yards (1,542) and receiving scores (12). The seven-time Pro Bowler needs 423 yards over his final three games to break the single-season receiving yards record held by Hall of Famer Calvin Johnson, who had 1,964 in 2012.
At 10-4, the Dolphins are in position to lock up their first AFC East division title since 2008. They are also just one game behind the 11-3 Baltimore Ravens for the AFC’s No. 1 seed, and Miami visits Lamar Jackson and company on Dec. 31.
