Cleveland Browns star running back Nick Chubb will undergo surgery on his left knee after suffering a gruesome season-ending injury on Monday Night Football against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Chubb was carted off the field in the first half after he was tackled on a run near the goal line. He immediately grabbed his left leg and broadcasters indicated that it was a lot worse than it appeared at first glance. They refused to show the replay.
“I’m told the replay of Nick Chubb getting injured is not to be seen,” Buck said on the ABC broadcast.
Chubb’s season is over for sure, but now it could very well do even more damage and possibly cost him his career.
Jesse Morse, MD on X broke down how Chubb’s injury could cost him his career.
Chubb sustained a major knee injury while playing for Georgia in college. That came during the 2015 season and was to the same left knee he injured Monday night. In that 2015 game, Chubb suffered a similar injury, tearing his ACL, MCL, PCL and dislocating his kneecap all in one fell swoop.

Chubb returned for the 2016 and 2017 seasons at Georgia and was a second-round draft pick of the Browns.
Now, the 27-year-old running back faces a similar injury and a lengthy recovery. A forthcoming MRI should determine the severity of the knee injury and what that means for his recovery for 2024 and beyond.
Chubb is one of the best running backs in the NFL so for his career to end like this would be catastrophic.
Chubb had a career-high 1,525 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns last season, his fifth in the league.
