Head coach Pete Carroll would like it if the Seattle Seahawks wouldn’t lose any more prominent players on the team. Carroll believes a major priority going forward is working out an extension with one of the team’s brightest stars, wide receiver DK Metcalf.
“It’s really important to us,” Carroll told 93.3 KJR on Tuesday, via the Tacoma News Tribune’s Gregg Bell. “We love him. He maybe will go down as one of the great draft picks we’ve ever had here.
“We are going to do everything we can to get it done.”
His comments came a day before reports surfaced that the Chiefs and Packers might be inquiring about Metcalf and his availability. Per Jack Settleman of Snapback Sports, Kansas City inquired about Metcalf and fellow Seahawks receiver Tyler Lockett. The Green Bay Packers, who just dealt Davante Adams, reached out as well.
Metcalf made his feelings known about the situation when a Twitter user suggested the door was open for him to play for the Chiefs.

“Better close it, heard it get cold at night.”
Did D.K. just completely rule out the possibility of playing for the Chiefs? Or was he simply making a joke.
Metcalf has one year remaining on his rookie contract. The 24-year-old has molded into one of the top receiving threats in the NFL, combining with Tyler Lockett to become one of the best WR duos around. However, the team no longer has Russell Wilson behind center after he was traded to the Denver Broncos.
Metcalf is coming off a 12-touchdown season in 2021, during which he also had 75 catches for 967 yards receiving.
