DJ Akademiks has revealed that the NFL threatened to take him to task over the leaked Super Bowl halftime show following his surprising disclosure ahead of Sunday’s big game.
The internet personality, who has made several big revelations in the past, leaked Kendrick Lamar’s entire setlist during the buildup to the game between the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chief and had no qualms over taking credit for it.
He has since apologized to Lamar, sarcastically, of course, in an Instagram post in which he claimed he had a very good reason for leaking the performance.
“Sorry Kendrick that I leaked ur performance,” he wrote on his Story. “I apologize. U did ya thing tho. … I leaked Kendrick Super Bowl performance hoping he would change it… he ain’t do it… he doubled down. I’m wat the culture was feeling… I tried to save y’all from that.”
DJ Akademiks Reveals How He Got Kendrick Lamar’s Halftime Performance
Akademiks later got on Instagram Live and revealed how he obtained the leaked audio. The clip, which was quickly taken down from social media platforms via strikes, appeared to be a rehearsal of the show, with Akademiks claiming to have ties to someone who was working at the arena.
“Let me tell you how got that n***a Kendrick’s fucking Super Bowl performance,” he said. “A n***a who worked at the fucking arena’s a chat n***a.”

He then revealed that the NFL threatened to sue him because of the leak.
“The NFL hit me, ‘Ak, we’re going to sue you. Well, do then,” he said. “They sent me an email this morning. They said, ‘Don’t mention the tracklist.’ That’s coz, apparently, when we leaked it, they got paranoid. You know what I did? I went live on Rumble, shout out to Rumble, I went live on Twitter, and I leaked that b**ch. I just wanna show y’all, any of y’all journalists who ever think y’all on my level… Suck a d**k.”
Kendrick Lamar continued with his performance as planned despite DJ Akademiks’s warning. He even mentioned Drake by name during his rendition of the hit dis track “Not Like Us.”
While the rapper steered clear of mentioning the “certified pedophile” line, he had no problems belting out the “a minor” part, which the crowd sang along with him.
