Kobe Bryant’s death had a profound effect on just about everybody and that includes Colin Kaepernick — who received support from the Los Angeles Lakers legend when he decided to protest during the National Anthem over three years ago.
Kaepernick tweeted his condolences to the Bryant family and to the others who died in the helicopter crash in California last Sunday.
“I will remember Kobe as a basketball legend,a father& a man. Watching him&Gigi share their relationship with us is something I won’t ever forget. My heart aches for his wife, children& family. I hope the waves of love being sent to his family can ease some of the pain they feel,” Kaepernick wrote.
Unfortunately, a bunch of people turned the tragedy with Kobe into an opportunity to show how much they hate Colin Kaepernick when folks took to GoFundMe and started campaigns to get the former 49ers QB a helicopter of his own.
There was even a petition made to get one as well.

As of Friday morning, it looks like GoFundMe has rightfully taken those down, because they were clearly made in poor taste.
That didn’t stop people from thinking it was a great idea.
Disgusting people.
