Not everybody in Cleveland is excited about having an elite type quarterback after the Browns traded for QB Deshaun Watson. The Browns are giving Watson a five-year $230 million dollar contract even though he still has legal issues.
While the criminal charges were dropped, there are still 22 pending civil lawsuits filed against him. Watson did not play last season after an offseason request to be traded plus the emergence of the 22 lawsuits against him alleging sexual assault and inappropriate conduct during massage sessions. In the upcoming season, Watson could still face suspensions and other penalties, but the NFL hasn’t made a final decision yet.
At his best, Watson is one of the five most talented quarterbacks in the NFL. His arrival on the Cleveland sports scene is matched only by LeBron James becoming a Cleveland Cavalier in 2003.
The arrival of a player of this magnitude, for one of four teams never to have reached a Super Bowl, should trigger a celebration avalanche.
Not for everybody as some lifelong fans have denounced their fandom of the team.

The Texans announced Friday that they agreed to trade Watson and a 2024 fifth-round pick to the Browns for first-round picks in 2022, 2023 and 2024, as well as a 2023 third-round pick and a 2024 fourth-round pick.
The Texans kept Watson inactive throughout the 2021 season due in part to the request, but also because multiple women accused the quarterback of sexual assault and misconduct during massage sessions.
Last week, a grand jury declined to indict Watson on criminal charges, but 22 civil lawsuits are still active.
