DeVonta Smith was trying to enjoy Sunday’s NBA playoff game between the Philadelphia 76ers and the Miami Heat when the jumbotron caught him in the crowd but gave the wrong information.
Smith was labeled a “former Philadelphia Eagle,” but the former Heisman Trophy winner is still under contract with the Eagles.
The former Alabama wide receiver retweeted the image on Twitter, and wrote, “Damn, got fired on my day off.”
Smith was drafted by Philadelphia No. 10 overall in the 2021 NFL Draft.
During his first season, Smith led the Eagles with 64 catches for 916 yards and 5 touchdowns. He also set a new rookie record for receiving yards. Smith also finished with the third-most catches by a rookie in franchise history.
He is expected to be even better in 2022 after the team went out and traded for AJ Brown, who is sure to get a ton of attention from defenses.
