Dianna Russini is set to bring her wealth of experience to a new platform following her departure from ESPN earlier this month.
The Worldwide Leader in Sports is looking very different nowadays, having undergone a massive talent shakeup this year. Russini is one of their outgoings and is now set to continue her career with The Athletic after working at ESPN for close to a decade.
The publication announced on Monday that the 40-year-old will be taking the lead on all of their NFL news coverage as a senior insider.
Russini has also said that she’s looking forward to joining The Athletic’s storytelling and reporting, as well as covering all the major NFL events for the platform.
“I’ll be covering all the big NFL events along with attending the important matchups to bring you as many details and as much information as I can gather,” she wrote on Monday. “The reporters at The Athletic are the best in the business, and I hope to find ways to add to their storytelling and reporting. I’ve never been more energized by an opportunity that allows me to tell stories about the sport I love.”
Russini joined ESPN in 2015 after a stint as a sports anchor for WRC-TV in Washington, D.C. She rose quickly at the network and emerged as a dependable source of breaking news, as well as analysis.
