Former Tennessee Titans coach Mike Vrabel can be a very intimidating presence. Vrabel played 14 seasons in the NFL as a linebacker with the Pittsburgh Steelers, New England Patriots and the Kansas City Chiefs. During his playing days, Mike was listed at 6’4″ and weighed in at 260 pounds which is prototypical for an NFL Linebacker.
NFL insider Dianna Russini, who works for The Athletic, shared a report about a conversation she had with a current general manager in the NFL at this years Senior Bowl.

It was mentioned that Vrabel’s physical size and presence could be seen as intimidating to others who work within an organization and could be a reason why Vrabel was not offered a head coaching position this off season despite his success with the Titans.
Vrabel was reportedly not happy about this story getting leaked and confronted Russini about it. Russini claims that her words got twisted and on a recent episode of “Pardon My Take” she tried to clear the air of what transpired.
“He called me the day after an aggregator took something I said that basically said Mike Vrabel is too fat to work,” Russini said, Via Awful Announcing. “What I shared on the football podcast for The Athletic was that I had dinner with a GM at the Senior Bowl and we had conversations about how bizarre this last coaching cycle was. And how crazy it was that Belichick and Vrabel didn’t have gigs.“

Vrabel has spent the last six seasons as head coach of the Titans compiling a 54-45 regular season record, including two AFC South Division Titles in 2020 and 2021.
Although Vrabel did not land a head coaching position this off season, expect him to be a hot commodity next off season when there is sure to be a lot of vacant head coaching positions as there always is.
