Ja Morant will be taking time away from the Memphis Grizzlies after flashing a gun during an Instagram live video. Soon after the video went viral, the Grizzlies announced that Morant will not be joining the team on their trip to Los Angeles where they will face the Clippers and Lakers.
Once the announcement came down, Morant himself also released a statement that read, “I take full responsibility for my actions last night. I’m sorry to my family, teammates, coaches, fans, partners, the city of Memphis, and the entire Grizzlies organization for letting you down. I’m going to take some time away to get help and work on learning better methods of dealing with stress and my overall well-being.”
The best message he got came from the NFL world when Dallas Cowboys WR Dez Bryant posted an important life lesson for him.
“if you know and love @JaMorant put your arms around him and tell him the truth… Ja you got a special ability them other niggas around you don’t.. and if the niggas around you loved you.. it’s no way you would be flashing that gun..I don’t care if you was to say it’s no foul play to having that gun on your live that’s a no go!”
“….it’s kids especially black kids with dreams living in poverty who love basketball trying to make it out.. you are special boss.. fuck that dumb shit… you are a role model regardless if you see it or not…your name hold weight.. make peace with whatever problems you are dealing with and elevate.. all love on this end,” Bryant wrote.
Morant is one of the most talented players in the league but his behavior or alleged behavior is problematic that could get him in some serious trouble later on down the road.
His focus should be on being one of the best young players in the league, not trying to prove that he is a dangerous man off the court.
