Ever since Adam Schefter broke the tragic news of Dwayne Haskins’ death on Saturday, he’s been getting called out left, right and center.
Haskins passed away early Saturday morning when he was struck by a dump truck on a South Florida highway. Schefter was one of the first to report on the passing of the 24-year-old Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback, and it seems like he may have been in such a rush to publish his breaking tweet that he didn’t entirely think it through.
In the since-deleted Tweet, Schefter describes Haskins as a “standout at Ohio State before struggling to catch on with Washington and Pittsburgh in the NFL.” Needless to say, there were many who felt that whole lead-in was an unnecessary shot at a 24-year-old man who had just lost his life.
Even Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson hopped on twitter to blast the ESPN reporter for his insensitive reporting:
And he’s not the only NFLer who’s airing out their grievances with Schefter. Former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant took a moment to blast the NFL insider while also issuing a strong message to fellow athletes about the disrespect they’re often faced with.

“Athletes for the record…the shit @AdamSchefter wrote that’s how a lot of people view us.. we ain’t shit but entertainment!.. if you let 1 treat you with disrespect the rest will follow…”
This isn’t the first time that athletes (or their significant others) have taken issue with something Adam Schefter’s tweeted or said. But it’s quite clear that they’ve had just about enough of it.
