The Miami Dolphins were hit with some terrible news during the week when they were forced to put star rookie running back De’Von Achane on the injured reserve with an ankle injury.
It was a brutal loss for the Fins, as Achane was second in rushing yards in the entire NFL despite being a healthy scratch in week one and only getting 38 total carries through the other four weeks.
When the injury was first announced, there was a fear that Achane could be out for an extended period. And while that’s still the case, the Dolphins did receive some good news recently as it is now believed that third-round pick out of Texan A&M will be able to return immediately after his 4-week stint on the IR is complete.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Achane is expected to return for the Dolphins’ week 11 game against the Las Vegas Raiders.
The speedster’s 460 yards were just 50 behind league leader Christian McCaffrey. And his ridiculous 12.1 yards per carry it tops among all NFL running backs.
In addition to today’s game against the Carolina Panthers, Achane will also miss contests against the Philadelphia Eagles, New England Patriots and Kansas City Chiefs. The Dolphins currently sit atop the AFC East division with a 4-1 record.
