An emotional and moving clip of Deuce Vaughn’s phone call with his father, Chris, ahead of the 2023 NFL Draft has resurfaced.
Chris works as a scout for the Dallas Cowboys. Before the draft, the elder Vaughn gave a beautiful and inspirational speech to his son. It’s even more heartwarming to watch now, since Deuce wound up being drafted by the Cowboys in the sixth round (212th overall).
Vaughn pieced together his best collegiate season last year, racking up 1,558 yards and nine touchdowns to go along with 42 receptions for 378 yards and three touchdowns. The year before, he had 1,404 rushing yards, 1,872 yards of offense and 22 total touchdowns.
The 5-foot-6 Vaughn turned heads with a strong showing in preseason play, so he should get every opportunity to complement RB1 Tony Pollard in the backfield. Dallas released Ezekiel Elliott in a cap-saving move last year, officially promoting Pollard to the starting role.
Dallas signed two-time Super Bowl champion Ronald Jones II for RB depth, but he was suspended for the first two games for violating the NFL’s PEDs policy.
