The Detroit Lions just got stronger.
On Monday, the team announced that they were signing former Pro Bowl tight end Zach Ertz.
After clearing waivers a month ago, three-time Pro Bowl tight end Zach Ertz had set his sights on signing with a Super Bowl contender and now he has found one.
Ertz, a former second-round pick, spent his first eight seasons in Philadelphia and was instrumental in the Eagles’ Super Bowl-winning campaign in 2017.
Ertz, who has not played since he was placed on injured reserve after suffering a quad injury during Arizona’s loss to Seattle on Oct. 22, has caught 27 catches this season for 187 yards and one touchdown.

His numbers are not the best but he has been a consistent performer this season. He’s caught at least two passes in each game and caught six passes on three occasions.
Ertz is a weapon the Lions can utilize against the 49ers.
