The Detroit Lions will not play a game on Sunday, but that doesn’t mean they are out of the headlines. Amid many defensive injuries, they have signed former All-Pro safety Jamal Adams.
The deal, for now, places him on the practice squad, but it’s a strong belief many that he could quickly be elevated to at least be a backup for the rest of the season.

The hope is that Adams could fill some holes on the defense, which currently has 11 players on the injured reserve.
Of those 11, two play in the secondary, and Adams could directly fill in for safety Ifeatu Melifonwu was put on the IR Now. 18 but is expected to return in Week 16.

Adams broke out onto the scene in his second year with the New York Jets after being the No. 6 pick in the 2017 NFL Draft.

From 2018 to 2020, he recorded three straight Pro Bowl years, one of which he was named First-Team All-Pro.
However, he hasn’t earned another award since then and has bounced around between the Seahawks, Titans, and now Lions.
He has played in only 13 games in the last three years, recording zero interceptions and three pass deflections.
