The Detroit Lions received some bittersweet news on the status of star tight end Sam LaPorta after he left Sunday’s Week 18 game with an injury.
Per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, LaPorta hyperextended his knee and suffered a bone bruise in Sunday’s win over the Minnesota Vikings. Though head coach Dan Campbell noted that they avoided the worst-case scenario, Rapoport added that he’ll likely “miss some time.”
LaPorta’s phenomenal regular season led to him earning a Pro Bowl nod in his rookie year. The 22-year-old racked up 86 receptions for 889 yards and 10 touchdowns, helping Detroit to its first division title in 30 years.
We’ll provide more details on LaPorta’s status when they become available.
