The Detroit Lions tried desperately to reach for the moon in the mega trade with the Rams.
On Super Bowl Sunday, ESPN’s Adam Schefter spoke on how the Carolina Panthers offered QB Teddy Bridgewater to the Lions as a part of their trade package for Matthew Stafford. The full deal Carolina proposed was the No. 8 pick, their fifth-rounder and Bridgewater for Stafford.
Detroit decided to bypass that offer and take the Rams deal, which was two first-round picks in 2022 and 2023, a third-round pick in 2021 and QB Jared Goff.
Before they said yes to that deal, Schefter added the Lions tried to get the Rams to part ways with NFL Defensive Player of the Year, Aaron Donald.
The Rams were having none of that.
Donald had 13.5 sacks, 45 tackles, 28 QB hits, 14 tackles for a loss, and four forced fumbles during the 2020 season.
