If the Houston Texans and Detroit Lions win just one game in 2021, they will both exceed expectations.
The Detroit Lions and Houston Texans are currently underdogs in all 17 games they’ll play next year after both franchises experienced some massive shake-ups in the offseason. The Lions sent Matthew Stafford to the Los Angeles Rams in return for Jared Goff, a former No. 1 pick and two-time Pro Bowler.
The Houston Texans sent DeAndre Hopkins packing last offseason and their QB Deshaun Watson has since demanded a trade this offseason. He, of course, is not likely to play at all or miss several games due to the multiple sexual allegations against him. The team has Tyrod Taylor as a potential veteran QB, and selected Davis Mills with its first 2021 NFL Draft pick, which came in the third round.
The closest the Texans come to being favored to win a game comes in Week 12, when the Jets arrive as one-point favorites. That line can always change. Not only that, they are double-digit underdogs in five games, and they are favored to lose by a touchdown or more 10 times.
The Detroit Lions open their 2021 season at home against the San Francisco 49ers, before a trip to face the NFC North rival Green Bay Packers on Monday Night Football in Week 2.
