The New Orleans Saints have gotten things moving in the quarterback market, having entertained Derek Carr this week.
Carr, whose departure from Vegas is a foregone conclusion, had been given permission to visit the Saints, the first team to show interest after the Raiders made it clear that they were moving on from the player.
According to, Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football, Carr met with members of New Orleans’ top brass for dinner at Ralph’s on the Park on Wednesday night, with head coach Dennis Allen and offensive coordinator Pete Carmichael Jr. also in attendance.
The meeting lasted until around 10:30 PM CT, and Carr made a visit to the team’s facility to round things off on Thursday.
Sean Fazende of FOX8 New Orleans has reported that the player was accompanied by his wife, while Tom Pelissero has revealed that the Saints and Raiders have the necessary framework in place for the signal-caller to be dealt.

A trade, however, isn’t imminent as the QB has a no-trade clause in his deal with the Raiders and will have to sign off on any move. But things are expected to happen quickly as Carr has $40.4 million that becomes guaranteed if he’s still on the roster in Vegas as of February 15.
The Raiders also have the option of releasing him.
