The New York Jets and Green Bay Packers are reportedly back to the negotiating table regarding the long-awaited Aaron Rodgers trade.
Last month, Rodgers revealed on “The Pat McAfee Show” that his intention is to play for the Jets in 2022. The 39-year-old added that the two sides just had to work out trade compensation, but he remains a member of the Packers with the draft drawing closer.
According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the two clubs have “recently re-engaged” in trade discussions with the four-time league MVP. Rapoport added that though a trade “is not imminent”, the Jets and Packers are hoping to complete a deal “this week.”
The Packers missed the postseason for the first time since 2018, finishing with a disappointing record of 8-9. It appears as though the club is ready to move on from the future Hall of Famer and move forward with 2020 first-round pick Jordan Love.
The Jets have lacked a true superstar franchise quarterback since Joe Namath, who spent his final season with the organization in 1976. Now, we wait and see if they can close out the deal on a trade for Rodgers.
