The Browns’ signature win of the Deshaun Watson era came Sunday without Watson.
The Cleveland Browns reportedly had some hope that quarterback Deshaun Watson would be back in the starting lineup Sunday after missing the team’s past two games with a throwing shoulder injury.
That hope faded a bit when he spoke to reporters on Tuesday.
Watson said his injury doesn’t have much to do with pain, but with whether he can throw the football.
“It’s a strain. It’s a micro-tear.”
He also provided uncertainty on when he would be able to return.

Last week, Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com reported that Watson could miss a few more games due to his shoulder injury.
“Deshaun Watson could miss multiple more games with a strain-like deep contusion in his rotator cuff; he’s the Browns’ $230 million investment, and they won’t play him until he can throw normally and pain-free,” Kay Cabot said.
It appears based on his comments that the Browns will be rolling with PJ Walker at quarterback again. With Walker, the team upset the 49ers last weekend. However, Walker completed 18-of-34 pass attempts for 192 yards with two interceptions. He will need to play much better to give his defense a break in the next game.
After the Browns acquired Watson in a trade with the Houston Texans, he served an 11-game suspension amid allegations of sexual misconduct and sexual assault against female massage therapists.
He was only able to play in six games last year as he went 3-3 and completed just 58.2 percent of his passes for 1,102 yards, seven touchdowns and five interceptions.
Watson is 2-1 as the starter this season and is completing 63.7 percent of his passing attempts for 678 yards, four touchdowns, and two picks.
