The race to trade for Deshaun Watson seemed to be down to the Atlanta Falcons and New Orleans Saints at one point. However, in true Falcons fashion, the team blew whatever lead they had and lost out on the QB when the Cleveland Browns came storming in with not only a massive deal, but a fully guaranteed contract as well.
Before the trade that sent the controversial quarterback to Cleveland, Watson was reportedly very close to a move that would send him to Atlanta instead. So close, according to ESPN, that he reached out to Bucs running back Leonard Fournette and former Browns receiver Jarvis Landry over FaceTime about joining forces.
Just in case Falcons fans had finally gotten over not getting Watson, the QB took to Instagram and posted a picture of his various Browns jersey, but he forgot to take his custom Falcons jersey off the table in the background.
Watson ended up joining the Browns, who recently traded for Amari Cooper and have good young pieces on the offensive and defensive line. The Browns sent three first-round draft picks to Houston in exchange.
In the end, he made the better choice for a team that is primed and ready to win right now.
