A Harris County grand jury will not be pursuing any criminal charges against Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson, per multiple reports.
It was a busy legal day for Watson. His attorney, Rusty Hardin, said Tuesday his client would plead the Fifth during his civil deposition Friday.
After the announcement came down, Watson actually took some time to speak to reporters and he got extremely emotional about the entire process.
‘Definitely a very emotional moment for me. I know we’re far from being done handling what we need to handle on the legal side, but today is definitely a big day. I thank my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for letting the truth be heard.’

Although Watson has not played for the Texans since the first lawsuit was filed on March 16, 2020, he was on the active roster during the 2021 season and was a healthy scratch for all 17 games. He was paid his entire $10.54 million base salary.
He is expected to be traded within the next few weeks.
