Deshaun Watson might be a healthy scratch for the entire 2021 NFL season due to his legal situation.
The Houston Texans quarterback demanded a trade earlier this year, but no one had a clue what was coming as he has to deal with off-the-field issues regarding some 22 women accusing him of sexual misconduct and assault during massage sessions.
His career is in limbo, because he does not want to be in Houston, but no team seems willing to trade for a QB when they don’t know what his future holds and whether he will be available to play at all this year.
Aaron Reiss of The Athletic thinks Watson appears poised to spend the 2021 season as essentially a healthy scratch.
“Watson will be either put on the exempt list or he’ll be suspended or he’ll be on the roster,” Reiss said on The Fantasy Authority podcast. “At least as of this moment, he’s just going to sit on the roster, healthy scratch.”
Watson led the NFL with 4823 passing yards and added 33 touchdown passes to his total in 2020 – his best year of his career.
Because of those numbers, Watson was picked to be the No. 18 player in the NFL in the top-100.
