Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson is taking some heat for sitting out Sunday’s loss to the Baltimore Ravens.
A day after getting blown out by the Ravens, the Browns’ head coach says Deshaun Watson was medically cleared to play Sunday, yet chose not to play. Kevin Stefanski defended Watson’s decision, but there are not many others that are doing the same.
According to a report from Browns reporter Jason Lloyd, some Browns players were “kind of aggravated he didn’t play” after he “told everybody all week he was playing.”
Beloved former UCLA Bruins star quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson made his pro debut for the Browns in the place of Watson. Thompson-Robinson completed 19 of 36 passes for 121 yards and three interceptions while rushing four times for 24 yards in Sunday’s 28-3 loss to the Ravens.
The 2023 fifth-round pick out of UCLA was overmatched in his regular-season debut but he was put in a bad position.

Cleveland will be on bye in Week 5, which will likely provide enough time for Watson’s shoulder to recover before the 49ers come to town in Week 6. So far this season, Watson has thrown for 678 yards, four touchdowns, and two interceptions.
The Browns are 2-2 and tied for second place in the AFC North.
