For years, the Alabama Crimson Tide have gotten accused of paying their players under the table to join Nick Saban’s program. Derrick Henry is singing a different tune to the accusers out there.
Just in case you haven’t heard, but every single recruiting class Saban has signed at Alabama has won at least one national championship during the coach’s 14-year run at the school. That is simply amazing.
Henry recently appeared on Barstool podcast Bussin’ With The Boys and was asked about being paid by the school and gave the best answer ever:
Henry pushed the University of Alabama to a pair of Southeastern Conference titles in 2014 and 2015 and a College Football Playoff National Championship in the 2015 season.
“I got paid nothing. They (Alabama) paid me in rings,” Henry said.
“If we are going to win, put it all on me,” Henry said in referring back to 2015 at Alabama. “And what happened, I won the Heisman. Won the Doak Walker. I took home the Walter Camp. I took home the Maxwell, and I took home a ring.”
