Tennessee Titans’ star running back Derrick Henry is one of the top names to follow on the trade market leading up to the deadline, and there certainly won’t be a shortage of teams interested in his services.
The 29-year-old is in the final season of his contract with the Titans. If they’re out of the playoff race at the trade deadline, one can expect Tennessee to trade its franchise star rather than risk losing him for nothing.
BetOnline posted the betting odds for Henry’s next team if the Titans end up trading him. The AFC powerhouse Buffalo Bills are the current betting favorites to land Henry at +200, followed by the Kansas City Chiefs (+300) and Miami Dolphins (+400).
Among the top Super Bowl contenders, perhaps no team needs a running back of Henry’s caliber more than the Bills. They clearly need to take some of the pressure off of quarterback Josh Allen and wide receiver Stefon Diggs, not to mention the team hasn’t had a 1,000-yard rusher since 2017 (LeSean McCoy).
The New York Jets’ stingy defense gave Allen troubles in the Bills’ Monday night loss. If Buffalo is to seriously compete for the Super Bowl, they’re going to have to find a way to get the rushing game going.
And perhaps the best solution there is to trade for a two-time rushing champion and former Offensive Player of the Year.
