A blockbuster trade proposal has the Tennessee Titans dealing superstar Derrick Henry to a struggling Super Bowl contender that would completely shake up the AFC playoff race.
The Titans already made one big move ahead of the Oct. 31 trade deadline, sending two-time All-Pro safety Kevin Byard to the Philadelphia Eagles.
Henry and quarterback Ryan Tannehill, both in their contract years, have been mentioned aplenty in trade rumors. Henry especially would generate plenty of interest on the market if GM Ran Carthon put him on the trade block.
Bleacher Report’s Alex Kay put together a list of four trade ideas for the two-time rushing champion. One of Kay’s proposals has the Buffalo Bills acquiring Henry in exchange for veteran RB Latavius Murray plus 2024 second and fifth-round picks:
“Trading for Henry would give Buffalo one of the most potent running back platoons in the league. He’d add the edge and depth that the team needs to keep pace with the surging Dolphins, a squad that leads the league in rushing by a wide margin right now. Miami has used that strength to reach the top of the AFC East standings at 5-1, and the Bills cannot afford to squander the tiebreaker advantage they currently have over their rival.
While the Bills aren’t flush with cap space—they have just under $2 million available—they could make a Henry trade work with some creative maneuvers. Shipping over Murray would both clear up a roster spot and take some salary off the books while giving Tennessee a veteran replacement for Henry. The rest of the cap room required could be made up for in the form of various restructures, cuts and through negotiations with the Titans to assume some of the financial burden.”
Buffalo hasn’t had a 1,000-yard rusher since 2017, when perennial Pro Bowler LeSean McCoy rushed for 1,138 yards. That said, RB1 James Cook is on pace for over 1,000 yards, as he has 419 yards and one TD in seven games.

Adding a game-changer like Henry to the Josh Allen-led offense would go a long way in helping Buffalo’s Super Bowl chances. They certainly aren’t on the level of the Kansas City Chiefs right now, and they’re still a game behind the Miami Dolphins for first in the AFC East.
The Bills should definitely be keen on a Henry trade if the Titans make him available. A rushing game with Cook, Henry and Allen would be borderline unstoppable, not to mention the high-powered passing game anchored by Allen, Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis.
