The Tennessee Titans are now likely to keep Derrick Henry around despite their willingness to trade him plus his being keen on an exit himself.
At 29, the star running back is not the player he used to be. But he could still provide a huge boost to a team harboring Super Bowl ambitions at this point in the season, which is something the Titans aren’t right now.
The team was reported to be intent on having Henry land on a team that could contend this season, but they’re also looking for a second-round pick in exchange for his services.
Last week, Dianna Russini reported that Henry, as well as wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins, will be staying put as the Titans would only part ways with them in exchange for significant assets. But, according to MLFootball, who cites various league sources, they may have softened their stance as they’re aware that there are no teams out there willing to offer a second-round pick for the RB.
The report adds that there is a notion around the league that they would be willing to settle for a lightly conditioned fourth-rounder that would turn into a three.

In any case, there won’t be much of a wait as the trade deadline is less than 24 hours away.
