The Las Vegas Raiders have granted Pro Bowl quarterback Derek Carr permission to speak to another NFL team for the first time since they decided he was no longer going to be their man.
Carr, who earned his fourth appearance in the Pro Bowl this term, was benched by the Raiders with two games left in the regular season, despite still harboring a slim chance of making the playoffs at the time.
The QB’s time in Las Vegas is all but over, though he has a no-trade clause in his contract. The Raiders can either trade him or release him but he would have to sign off on any trade. As such, Carr is probably keen on taking his time in order to ensure he makes the right move.
According to Ian Rapoport, the New Orleans Saints have invited the quarterback for a visit and he’s now due to meet with them this Wednesday as the Raiders have given him permission.
Carr is likely to entertain a few teams before he makes a decision on where he wants to play next season, while the Raiders are also busy considering their options with regards to finding a quarterback to replace the outbound star.
