The first major domino has fallen in NFL free agency, as highly-coveted quarterback Derek Carr has made his decision.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Carr has decided to join the New Orleans Saints, despite recent reports that he was leaning towards joining the New York Jets.
Reports state that while Carr did prefer the Jets, he was also unwilling to wait around while New York patiently awaits Aaron Rodgers’ decision.
This could end up costing the Jets should Rodgers decide to retire or remain in Green Bay, as it would leave Robert Saleh’s team scrambling for a quarterback with two of the biggest available names no longer an option.
One other name that has been closely linked to the Jets is Jimmy Garoppolo. The team will also likely kick the tired on a possible Lamar Jackson trade with the Ravens.

As for Carr, he will be reunited with Dennis Allen, as the New Orleans Saints head coach drafted Carr back in 2014 when he was the head coach of the Raiders.
