Earlier this week, the NFL dropped the hammer on Vontaze Burfict when they suspended him for the remainder of the 2019 season for his helmet-to-helmet hit on Indianapolis Colts tight end Jack Doyle.
Most people agree with the suspension because of his past, but his Raiders teammates certainly don’t, and that includes Derek Carr.
The Oakland Raiders QB spoke with reporters from London on Wednesday and called Burfict a “great guy” and said he is one of the most misunderstood players in the NFL.
The quarterback also said the 12-game suspension is unfair.
Burfict’s suspension is likely to be reduced upon appeal, but the NFL definitely wanted to send him a message that they will not tolerate his terrible and dangerous play on the field anymore.
