Derek Carr will be continuing his career in the NFL after ahe signed a deal to be the newest member of the New Orleans Saints.
That deal only came about after he spoke to two legendary quarterbacks.
Archie Manning played for the Saints for 11 seasons, and was selected to two Pro Bowls during his time with the team. Peyton Manning never played for the franchise, but he has strong ties to the New Orleans area. Peyton and Eli both played high school football at the Isidore Newman School. Peyton and Eli’s nephew Arch Manning also played at Isidore Newman.
During his press conference, Carr told reporters that he spoke to Saints wide receiver Michael Thomas prior to making his decision and revealed his recruiting pitch.
Thomas told Carr, “When do we get to work? We’re wasting time. Time’s ticking.”

Once he got off the phone with Thomas, Carr said he felt like they could “take on the world.”
Carr is joining the Saints after spending nine seasons with the Raiders. He was selected to four Pro Bowls during his time with the franchise.
He agreed to a four-year, $150 million contract with the Saints on Monday.
