The Denver Broncos are reportedly set to sign a new quarterback who impressed in the XFL this year.
According to the Twitter account run by the JL Sports agency, Ben DiNucci is set to return to the NFL as he has agreed to a deal with said team.
The QB was among players attending Denver’s rookie minicamp this weekend and even got roasted by Sean Payton after throwing an interception, with the new head coach joking he could get a job at Walmart if things don’t work out.
Well, DiNucci shouldn’t have anything to worry about now as he’s done enough to earn a deal with the team.
The 26-year-old was drafted out of the seventh round by the Dallas Cowboys in 2020 and got a start early in the season as he was thrust into the lineup against the Philadelphia Eagles. While Dallas lost, Ben gave a good account of himself, completing 21 of 40 passes to the tune of 180 yards and no interceptions. He also ran with the ball on five occasions for 22 yards.

He hasn’t played in a competitive NFL game since then, with his last appearance coming in a preseason fixture against the Broncos. But he got another opportunity in the XFL, playing 10 games for the Seattle Sea Dragons in which he led the league with 374 pass attempts, 242 completions, and 2,671 yards.
Only AJ McCarron had more touchdown passes, throwing four more than DiNucci’s 20.
