The NFL’s social media admin wisely deleted a certain tweet during the AFC Championship game on Sunday.
Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Zay Flowers had a torrid outing against the Kansas City Chiefs as he was flagged for taunting on a 55-yard catch that set his team back 15 yards before fumbling a touchdown dive. He subsequently injured himself out of frustration.
The league’s official X account trolled the rookie following the costly fumble.
“FUMBLED AT THE GOAL LINE,” their post read. “BIG PLAY ZAY.”
The tweet didn’t stay up more than a few minutes, but it’s hard to escape with anything that’s made it to the internet these days, as someone got a screenshot before the tweet was taken down.
The decision to remove the tweet was the correct one as making a joke of one of your players is not a good look, especially given that the fumble likely cost him a Super Bowl appearance.
