As good as things are with Deion Sanders when it comes to him being the head coach of Colorado, his health is failing him and now a decision is likely going to be made that will change the way he is able to get around.
Colorado coach Deion Sanders could have his left foot amputated as a result of an ongoing blood flow problem that he has been dealing with over the last several years.
Sanders’ blood flow problem has been well-documented from his time at Jackson State when he had his left big toe and second toe amputated, forcing him to miss multiple games in 2021. His recent ultrasound was done to determine the cause of ongoing pain that occurs when he wears shoes for long periods of time.
Sanders posted a video on Wednesday showing his situation has gotten more dire.
Several doctors, that include University of Colorado vascular surgeons Dr. Donald Jacobs and Dr. Max Wohlauer, told Sanders that if the current pain in a dislocated toe isn’t dealt with soon it could lead to a more serious condition that will result in the amputation.
In the meantime, Sanders’ longtime partner Tracy Edmonds, made sure he knew she would be by his side during every step of the way.
“I’m ALWAYS praying for you and seeking information on alternative options. Please remember your health comes before everything!” Edmonds wrote in the comments section.

It’s unclear if Sanders will commit to surgery. He vowed to keep progressing in the caption of the Instagram video.
“As you know I’ve faced some medical challenges with my foot but I’ve never said ‘WHY ME’ – I keep moving forward, progressing… See you never know what a person may be going through while I sit in your seat of judgment but you can trust and believe that we are all going through something – just keep the faith and know that if He brought you to it, He will bring you through it… I’m CoachPrime and I’m built for this,” he wrote.
Sanders’ first season with the Buffaloes is quickly approaching so a decision will need to be made fairly quickly.
It’s unclear what Sanders will decide to do moving forward.
