As you may remember, Deion Sanders got into it with a reporter earlier this year when a reporter dared to call him by his first name instead of ‘coach.’
The Jackson State head coach even compared himself to Nick Saban
“You don’t call Nick Saban, ‘Nick.’ Don’t call me Deion,” Sanders said.
“If you call Nick [Saban], Nick, you’ll get cussed out on the spot, so don’t do that to me. Treat me like Nick.”
Sanders appeared on ESPN’s First Take on Friday and further explained why he insists on being called “Coach.”
“To just call someone by their name to try to belittle what I’ve accomplished and what I’ve worked for, that’s just not right and I wasn’t going to stand for it,” Sanders said on the ESPN show.
