Deion Sanders has revealed that he practically begged an NFL team to sign him but he never heard back from them.
Sanders is one of the greatest players in NFL history and arguably the best cornerback to ever grace a football field.
The two-time Super Bowl champion, now the head coach of the Colorado Buffaloes, represented the Atlanta Falcons, San Francisco 49ers, Dallas Cowboys, Washington Commanders (then Redskins), and Baltimore Ravens during his time in the league.
Sanders was also a professional baseball player who put on the uniforms of the New York Yankees, Atlanta Braves, Cincinnati Reds, and San Francisco Giants.
Speaking on the Pat McAffee show, Coach Prime revealed he wanted to play for the Bengals while he was with the Reds in Cincinnati and actually reached out to the team because he really loved the city, yet they never got back to him.
“I wanted to just build a home there and live there forever,” he said. “We even asked the darn Bengals at the time, which were horrible. Like okay, let me just bring it here. Let me do the two-sport thing here because I don’t want to leave, I love it. They didn’t even call us back. I’m like, ‘I want to play for you. I love baseball here. I would love to play football here so I can stay here all year round. I found a property to go to the lake and I want to do fishing and I love it here.’ And they never called back.”

It’s pretty weird that the Bengals would blank a player like Sanders; they could have definitely used his services back then. However, there still isn’t much to regret when you’ve had the sort of career Deion had.
It’s the stuff of legend.
