On Monday, Jackson State held their Pro Day in Mississippi. And the turnout wasn’t half-bad, depending on who you ask.
Most observers would deem it to be a success, as 22 NFL teams sent representatives to the event. However, according to Jackson State head coach Deion Sanders, 22 teams in attendance still meant that 10 were missing. And that didn’t sit too well with the Hall of Fame cornerback.
While speaking with Cameron Wolfe about the workout, Sanders called out those 10 teams that decided it wasn’t worth their time to make it out to Jackson State’s pro day.
After Wolfe mentioned the 22 teams in attendance, Sanders responded by saying, “That means 10 of them are missing. Don’t think I ain’t gonna call you out. You 10 that’s missing, if I catch you at Mississippi State or Ole Miss, it’s gonna be a problem.” He went on to add, “Our kids are that good that you should have shown up too.”
After no HBCU players were selected in last year’s draft, Sanders vowed that would not happen again. In an effort to increase exposure for the league, Prime Time not only set up this pro day for his school, but he also brought in players from Mississippi Valley St. and Alcorn St. to get them working out in front of some NFL scouts as well.
Sanders went on to talk about how he wants these HBCU players to “see” and “feel” the draft for themselves, calling on fellow HBCU coaches to get involved in these pro days for the sake of their players.

There’s no denying the fact that Sanders has been doing some great things for these kids ever since he joined the team at Jackson State. And this HBCU joint-pro day is just another example of it.
