Deion Sanders is headed into the first season of his coaching career in which he won’t be working with at least one of his sons. And the temptation to follow them to the NFL is likely getting harder to resist.
The Colorado Buffaloes head coach only recently admitted that he would consider making the step up if there was a chance that he could continue to have both of his boys under his tutelage. As reports would have it, an opportunity has already come his way.
According to a source cited by FOX Sports’ Jordan Schultz, Coach Prime had talks with Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones over the newly created vacancy on Monday. The source noted that, while an interview hadn’t been scheduled, the parties were expected to continue speaking.
Deion Sanders Confirms Talks With Jerry Jones
Sanders confirmed speaking to Jones in a conversation with ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Monday night. He admitted he was intrigued by the offer but added that he loved what he had going on with CU.
“To hear from Jerry Jones is truly delightful, and it’s intriguing,” he said. “I love Jerry and believe in Jerry. After you hang up and process it, and think about it, it’s intriguing. But I love Boulder and everything there is about our team, the coaches, our student body and the community.”

While Sanders hasn’t indicated a willingness to take the job, he hasn’t said outright that he won’t.
The next few days could be really interesting.
