Deion Sanders is making sure to bring back that old-school type of football, and that includes fighting in practices.
Jackson State went 11-2 last season under second-year coach Deion Sanders, the Pro Football Hall of Famer, and 2021 SWAC Coach of the Year. The Tigers set a school record for victories and won a conference championship for the first time since 2007.
The team is looking to do even bigger things in 2022. Sanders recently let his players know that if they get into a confrontation, he will allow them to fight right there in practice to blow off steam.
6-foot-3, 330-pound lineman Rufus Carl Jones vs. 6-foot-3, 280-pound defensive lineman Jeremiah Williams.
The defending SWAC champion Jackson State will face Alabama A&M in the 2022 Gulf Coast Challenge this fall in Mobile.
