The San Francisco 49ers will be without superstar wide receiver Deebo Samuel for their next couple of game, head coach Kyle Shanahan announced Saturday.
Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Shanahan told reporters that Samuel has a hairline fracture in his shoulder and will miss the team’s Week 7 and Week 8 games against the Minnesota Vikings and Cincinnati Bengals, respectively.
Star offensive tackle Trent Williams is doubtful with an ankle injury, Schefter added. Running back Christian McCaffrey is questionable as he deals with a ribs/oblique injury. Williams, McCaffrey and Samuel were all injured in last Sunday’s Week 6 road game against the Cleveland Browns.
The 49ers went on to lose 19-17 after kicker Jake Moody missed a game-winning field goal, marking San Fran’s first loss of 2023. The 27-year-old Samuel has 20 catches for 302 yards and a touchdown to go along with 18 rushed for 95 yards and one rushing touchdown.
Samuel had his best season in 2021, when he racked up 77 receptions for 1,405 yards and six touchdowns to go along with 365 rushing yards and eight touchdowns. For his career, Samuel has 243 receptions for 3,532 yards, 13 receiving touchdowns and 877 rushing yards with 15 rushing scores.
